War Begins in New Orleans, Boys Come Home to War

In a desperate move to bring back order, President Bush allowed for some members of the national guard to come home from Iraq and serve on the homefront. Officials say these soldiers (carry m-16's locked and loaded, hardened by the war in Iraq and are willing to shoot to kill" some adding "and they probably will".

Did anyone ever stop and think that maybe the destruction of the one of America's most vibrant cities and the eruption of urban war will give the insurgency a renewed hope if it really is dying down to fight as hard as they could now that the U.S. is wounded. I mean look at the pictures of the superdome, they look like they came from a third world country in Africa with refugees of war. And I say Africa becuase most of the ones in the picture are African American. I truy believe that this reign of terror unleashed on the southeast coast will revive the insurgency in Iraq if it ever was "in its last throes" which I do not believe it is. It will strengthen and higher the morale of the insurgents why, a couple of reasons.

1. Forces are withdrawaing fom Iraq and heading back to the U.S. that in and of itself is a material gain for the insurgency and place U.S. forces at more harm due to less security personnel.

2. The Iraqi constitution has been rejected by the Sunnis, which will therefore maintain the people's support for foreign and domestic insurgents. This will also leave the country in limbo and for a while given recent events.

3. We are yet to find out to what lengths these looters and criminals are organized or even how far they are willing to go. I was flabbergasted! They situated snipers around the superdome!? Rapes are now rampant?!! They even have the gall to fire at police, and now explosions. I was told the drug trade there is very active but not to this militia like degree. I can only hope our boys coming back from Iraq will calm things a bit.

And in all of this, you have the mayor of New Orleans lashing out at the Feds saying they do not have a clue on whats going on in the city whom many say may never rise again. Bush also lashed out at the insufficient level of response...whoa wait, Mr. Commander in Chief, umm just one question sir...WHY DON'T YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT MR. TEXAS NATIONAL GUARD!!!

Meanwhile check out this video posted by CNN on what they describe as a warzone

Hurrican Katrina Strikes the United States!

This is not political but, this is one of the biggest disasters that hit our country and information needs to be disseminated. I was in New Orleans two years ago for a conference. It was the Sugar bowl back then and the streets were full of happy people going wild, after the game becuase of LSU's victory, I remember the French Quarter, the haunted trail to the cemetary, bourbonne street, Algeria Island, the Aquarium of the Americas. It is hard to believe that now it is underwater almost 80% of it! Full Story.

It is not only our civic duty to help our fellow Americans in need, but it is the most basic human right on one another. We helped with the Tsunami back then well lets help now. More details later.

U.S. Forces Shoot Dead Reuters Employee, Violently Arrest and Keep Rest

Almost 6 hours ago, American forces attacked a press convoy reaching the scene of a fire fight between Iraqi police and insurgents. One member was shot once in the face and four times in the chest while another was shot and wounded. Despite having revealed themselves as Reuters, the convoy was arrested "treated like dogs" in the words of one of those taken into custody and would not be released despite a request by Reuters to release them immediatley. Full Story

It is not uncommon for U.S. forces to attack the press, expecially in times where certain acts by U.S. forces and their Iraqi police (i.e. house to house searches etc) may provide some unfavorable PR for the war. This comes in light of Sunnis shunning the constitution that had been passed as a referandum, Bush's 36% approval rating, mounting US casualties and rise in insrugency attacks throughout the country.

Friends of the Coyote

This blog is a political one. It seeks to offer an aleternate veiw of the current geopolitical affairs of the middle east and the pending war on terrorism, terror, extremism or whatever the pundits like to call it nowadays. But I am dedicating this post to something more personal for a change. I am dedicating this blog to my good friends, the ones who have been with me all these years. I want to especially dedicate it to the ones I do not get see much too often due to geographical barriers. Some I have been fortunate to find blogs for and have posted (Tim, Marie and Bryan I am smiling in your direction), if anyone else has a blog let me know and send me a link. So from the ultraconservative detached from reality, SUV driving, materialistic, shallow thinking, Fox news's dream demographic, that is Irvine; I send out a warm howl to all my friends old and new.

BREAKING NEWS: Bush Pleas goes Unheard as Sunnis Reject Constitution

After declaring that they would send the draft to the consitituiton to parliament without Sunni approval, Shiites and Kurds received a phonecall from President Bush from his vacationing site of Crawford Texas. In it he urged the two to include the Sunnis and the three saty at the table once more. Well, the Sunnis have unanimously hammered the constitution saying that it is unjust and inadequate. And the Shiites and Kurds have went ahead and sent the draft to the parliament. Full Story

Here is the thing, do you know why the Sunnis are so up in arms against the constitution. It plans to split Iraq into three federations. The North will be given to the Kurds, the South will be given to the Shiites and the middle will be given to the Sunnis. This was never brought up had it not been "reccomended" American officials to the feldgling government. This remains one of the main reasons why Sunnis are angry at American intervention in the constitution drafting process. If we look at this from demographic perspective, it seems the only resistance given to the occupation in Iraq comes almost exclusively from Sunnis, while both Shiites and Kurds have a vested interest in having their own wealthy province. The Sunnis see this (and rightly so) as dividing their country and marginalizing those that are troublesome to the occupation. Let us not forget that is how Kuwait started, it was originally part of Iraq. Or a bigger example is the psyches-picot agreement to splinter the middle east into nation states, want to learn more?

So I am glad the Sunnis rejected the constitution, they rejected to keep their nation united, the other two are willing to sacrifice that for the sake of the best peices of the pie they will be getting. Not to mention the fact that they were both oppressed by Iraq's Baath regime and Saddam Hussein was a secular Sunni. But let us not forget it was the U.S. that gave gas to the Iraqis to gas the Kurds, supported Saddam Hussein and expanded his regime, and turned its back on the Shiite coup that led to all these mass graves. Sorry Bush, the fish just aint bitin this time!

War Resumes in Israel

For annexing Palestinian land in the West Bank and for killing five palestians in nearby refugee camp of Tulkarim, Hamas leader Mohammad Deif has declared an end to peacetime in the region and began moving his geurillas into position. Approximately 30 minutes ago a suicide bomber detonated himself at a bus stop in Beersheba wounding ten people. This comes in light of renewed rocket attacks on Israeli settlements in the West Bank and a declaration of war by members of the resistance. Full Story.
Now Israel has not only lost the Gaza but what it had hoped to salvage from that loss is now gone as well. They leave Gaza and call it a move towards peace when they could not even hold on to it security wise. Now they annex palestinian land and surround Jerusalem and the mosque and bar Muslims from entering their mosque. Then they resume their attacks on the refugee camps and call it cracking down on terrorism. They made a gamble that Mahmoud Abbas would be able to disarm Hamas and other members of the resistance, so they can move freely and do what they wished with only the international opinion to worry about. But they were mistaken and 30 minutes ago they paid the price for thinking they can get away with crimes without accountability.
