Calling for Another Crusade Pope???

The Pope in a tactless speech used inflammatory qoutes from some no name Byzantine emperor from the dark ages to describe the nature of some Islamic values. This has caused anger and outrage across the Muslim world. I personally refuse to insult the Pope in anyway I normally go after anyone who makes scathing remarks such as these. Not because of who he is (personally, I think nothing of him) but so not to offend many of my friends who are Catholics and have respect for the office. But I will say that an apology is in order, not only to Muslims but to his constituency. This irresponsible move sets a bad stage for pitting the Christian world against the Muslim world. It reminds me of Pope Urban II, the first Pope who called for the Crusade against the Muslims. What was the result of the Crusades? How about an enduring distrust and hostility towards the Christian West. In a world where are trying to come together, the Pope's remarks are following in his predecessor's footsteps that might potentially lead to more death and destruction and more dire, a rift between two of the most influential relgions. If you are Catholic or Muslim, I would like to hear what you have to say about this. Please reply to this article with your opinion. I would like to know whether what the Pope said is really reflective of the Catholic community.

Hurricane Sheehan Hits Washington DC

This hurricane season is one of not only natural disasters but also natural consequences to the war in Iraq. Cindy Sheehan and 100,000 supporters made landfall at the U.S. capital calling for an immediate end to the war in Iraq. But that wasnt the only place where thousands called for the end of the illegal war, the following cities and countries also saw major protests:

Nationally
Washington DC
Los Angeles
San Francisco
Seattle

Internationally
Brussels, Belgium
Florence, Italy
Rome, Italy
Paris, France
Madrid, Spain
Calgary, Canada
Vancouver, Canada
Halifax, Canada
Ottawa, Canada
Toronto, Canada
London, England

This is truly war that the entire human species is going against. I wonder if any of the deaf ears are starting to listen...

The Katrinas We Have Done

Lately I have focused on the effects of Hurrican Katrina, its effects, and ramifications. Well, now it is time to continue what this site strives to bring, a different view of current events surrounding the most sensitive areas in the world, the middle east. I want you to think for a moment though how close this disaster has hit home. And despite this horrible devastation, it does not compare to what people see in Iraq on a day to day basis. With daily air raids and bombings, the help for these people will not come late, as a matter of fact it is not coming at all. Caught between American forces and insurgents, the Iraqi people have gone through their initial stage of looting and now marshall law prevailsin much of the same way as the past weeks after the law enforcement and national guards with orders of shoot to kill. This short span of horror that befell the people of New Orleans for a couple of weeks continues to haunt the Iraqi people now going on three years. If anything lets make this hurricane a precedent, that simply because a people do not look like us, speak our language or hold our same values does not diminish their humanity for if we do we are only diminishing ours.

Blacks Loot, whites just find things...This is disgusting

This made me want to throw up! Look closely at the captions:

caption (top): a young man walks through chest deep flood after LOOTING a grocery store in New Orleans on Tuesday August 30, 2005. Flood waters continue to rise after Hurrican Katrina did extensive damage....

caption (bottom) Two residents wade through chest deep water after FINDING bread and soda from a local grocery store after hurrican Katrina came through the area in New Orleans Louisiana.

1. Note how they refer to the black guy as "a young man" implying some sort of hoodlum while they refer to the two white people who seem to be of the same age as "residents" implying legitmate members of society.

2. Note how they call one things differently, the black guy had just looted, while the white couple simply found stuff a the local grocery store.

3. Note how they mention what the whites took..just bread and soda while they make no mention of what the black guy took referring to it collectively as loot..did you ever think that both had taken things to survive!

Now Rush Limbaugh, who has shown himself to be a bigger douchebag than I expected (and thats really saying something) saying no body forced the black people to come to louisiana and stay poor, while O'reilly (Limbaugh's TV bitch) says this is whole race thing is irrelevant.

Then you have the representative from FEMA saying some people chose not to leave...MAYBE BECAUSE THEY COULDNT YOU CLUELESS MORON!

BTW Big Big Kudos to Kanye west for speaking his mind on MSN during the fundraiser, he's right, its sickening to see this racial profiling even in our darkest hour, and he's right when he said Bish doesnt care about black people. Kudos to Al Sharpton as well for sheding light on the demographic issue and urban decay problem.

Like I said guys it all about us citizens helping eachother, not some a-hole politicians thanking eachother behind limosine/motorcades while people are raped, killed and die in the streets of the very cities and states they were sworn to protect.

Federal Government Transfers Disaster Donations to Pat Robertson

Yet another surprise and diasppointment. This is digusting and outrageous! PAt Robertson, you know the far right wing televangelist, the one who called for the assasination of Venezuelan Prez Hugo Chavez. Well in a FEMA press release, the Federal Emergency Management Agency is transferring donations over to Pat Robertsons organization "Operation Blessing". Want to see it for yourself, its third on the list below the red cross (press release). Meanwhile Hugo Chavez has pledged over a million dollars in oil to aid in transportation by rescue teams to hard hit areas. This becoming so surreal! This is the federal government doing this...and as if their incompetence has not said enough about them already. I and so many American are angry at the blatant racism, partiality, incompetence and overall B.S. performance that they have made in the wake of the response. Notice that the pictures all show African American refugees. Hmm where did all the White people go? Well you only realize the racial disparities and level of poverty in these times. I can only pray these poor and innocent refugees will make it out alive with or without FEMA. Now they are sending national guardsmen over there, I only hope the racial prejudice when dealing with possible suspects does not escalate into an all out riot like what I saw as a little kid back during the riots in Los Angeles.

War Begins in New Orleans, Boys Come Home to War

In a desperate move to bring back order, President Bush allowed for some members of the national guard to come home from Iraq and serve on the homefront. Officials say these soldiers (carry m-16's locked and loaded, hardened by the war in Iraq and are willing to shoot to kill" some adding "and they probably will".

Did anyone ever stop and think that maybe the destruction of the one of America's most vibrant cities and the eruption of urban war will give the insurgency a renewed hope if it really is dying down to fight as hard as they could now that the U.S. is wounded. I mean look at the pictures of the superdome, they look like they came from a third world country in Africa with refugees of war. And I say Africa becuase most of the ones in the picture are African American. I truy believe that this reign of terror unleashed on the southeast coast will revive the insurgency in Iraq if it ever was "in its last throes" which I do not believe it is. It will strengthen and higher the morale of the insurgents why, a couple of reasons.

1. Forces are withdrawaing fom Iraq and heading back to the U.S. that in and of itself is a material gain for the insurgency and place U.S. forces at more harm due to less security personnel.

2. The Iraqi constitution has been rejected by the Sunnis, which will therefore maintain the people's support for foreign and domestic insurgents. This will also leave the country in limbo and for a while given recent events.

3. We are yet to find out to what lengths these looters and criminals are organized or even how far they are willing to go. I was flabbergasted! They situated snipers around the superdome!? Rapes are now rampant?!! They even have the gall to fire at police, and now explosions. I was told the drug trade there is very active but not to this militia like degree. I can only hope our boys coming back from Iraq will calm things a bit.

And in all of this, you have the mayor of New Orleans lashing out at the Feds saying they do not have a clue on whats going on in the city whom many say may never rise again. Bush also lashed out at the insufficient level of response...whoa wait, Mr. Commander in Chief, umm just one question sir...WHY DON'T YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT MR. TEXAS NATIONAL GUARD!!!

Meanwhile check out this video posted by CNN on what they describe as a warzone
more later.
